Berlin-based artist Chiharu Shiota is internationally revered for creating works that interpret life, death memories and consciousness. She has used found objects, such as shoes, keys, beds and chairs, in her creations to address human issues.

Her solo exhibition Silent Emptiness will be unveiled at the Red Brick Art Museum in Beijing on Sunday. Several installations integrate classic Chinese gardening elements and were built specifically for the venue to create harmony with the museum.

Curated by Yan Shijie, the museum's founder and director, the exhibition displays Shiota's distinctive cross-cultural experiences from living and working in the East and West, inspiring her to translate the concept of "emptiness" in Eastern philosophy into visual pieces.
