Davis led the Warriors to a 4-0 week, averaging 22.3 points, 10.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds. Golden State, which went 16-38 before Davis' arrival, is 12-7 since.

Other nominees in the Eastern Conference were Miami's Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade, Cleveland's LeBron James, Charlotte's Emeka Okafor, Detroit's Richard Hamilton, New Jersey's Vince Carter and Washington's Gilbert Arenas.

In the Western Conference, Denver's Andre Miller, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett and Phoenix's Shawn Marion and Steve Nash were under consideration.
