Curtains raised for first stage facility JV
( 2003-12-03 00:59) (China Daily)

China's first joint venture (JV) involving stage equipment was established Tuesday in a bid to tap market potential.

The company, Beijing Zhongyi Stage Technology Co Ltd (CKS), was founded by three Chinese groups and the Asia Fair Co from South Korea with a registered capital of US$400,000.

China National Culture and Arts Co Ltd (CNCAC), the biggest culture and arts performance agent in the country, Beijing Chinese Culture Entertainment Co Ltd, which holds 49 per cent of CNCAC, and China Cultural Facility Construction Corp (CFCC) are all affiliated with the Ministry of Culture.

"The reforms of performance groups, improvements in their facilities and the construction of cultural facilities for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing are well under way. All this brings a lot of opportunities to this new business,'' said Zhang Erhu, chairman of CFCC.

The JV will be engaged in importing advanced stage equipment from South Korea, which is a world leader in the field.

CKS will also focus on the design of theatres and concert halls. Its business also includes mobile phone proofing theatres and the instillation of light emitting monitors, which are used as display devices within theatres.

Rhee Shang-hi, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, believes the establishment of the JV will also boost the exchanges of stage equipment, exhibitions and performances between China and his country.
