Chinese vice-president meets president of Timor-Leste's national parliament


BEIJING -- Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng on Friday met with Maria Fernanda Lay, president of the National Parliament of Timor-Leste, who is in China for a visit and the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Han said China is willing to work with Timor-Leste to carry forward the tradition of mutual trust and win-win cooperation, implement key consensus reached between the two countries' leaders, and firmly support each other.
The two countries should also advance the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, improve the well-being of the people, enhance mutual understanding and friendship, raise the level of comprehensive strategic cooperation, and promote regional peace and stability, Han added.
Maria Fernanda Lay said Timor-Leste firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and the National Parliament of Timor-Leste stands ready to make positive contributions to promoting practical cooperation between the two countries.
