Chinese Culture Week 2025, a nonprofit international platform for contemporary Chinese arts and cross-cultural exchanges, is set to be held in Edinburgh from Aug 1 to 10.

The event showcases the charm of China's performing arts and promotes cultural understanding and exchanges.

Themed "Echoes of Time", this year's event is co-organized by the Intercultural Connections Initiative and QZ Global Performance UK, and will explore how culture travels, transforms and connects people from different countries.

A total of 12 selected plays will be staged at the King's Hall, Edinburgh during the week to highlight the diversity and malleability of Chinese performing arts and its expression. They include the experimental Kunqu opera The Story of the Stone, Zhuangzi's Dream, A Sonic Dejavu, English Ako, House of Mystery and Narcosis.

In addition to live theater shows, the week will also present digital screenings with immersive projection technologies to introduce more artworks blended with traditional Chinese cultures, such as dramas The Litchi Road and Twelve Chinese Zodiacs, and shadow puppet play Shadow Play in China.

For the first time, a promotion event will be during the week for the first time, where a number of projects with market potential will seek international partners.

Beyond stage performances, the event will also feature diverse forms to demonstrate Chinese cultures in an interactive way. Through cultural markets, workshops, lectures, salons and exhibitions, visitors can get firsthand experience of Chinese intangible cultural heritages, food, craftsmanship and traditional folk music.
